傑出的藝術家模仿,偉大的藝術家盜竊。(Good artists copy, great artists steal. — Pablo Picasso)

SAME, SAYM, SAYME, The Seventh Letter, Arcade Art Gallery, Gallery Taiwan

Arcade Art Gallery is pleased to present "Cracking The City", a solo Exhibition of new work by Taiwanese Graffiti Artist: SAME.

SAME is one of the earliest Graffiti Writers on the Island of Taiwan, and consequently, one of the most respected. SAME has never stopped proudly representing Taiwanese Graffiti Culture, both locally and abroad.

Today, SAME continues to use his now easily recognizable and iconic Bubble Tag to push himself artistically and explore new territory.

This Exhibition features the most recent work from SAME; large-scale oil paintings on canvas incorporating classic SAME iconography with new imagery.
In this series his bold Bubble Tag has been torn apart. The message is clear; in order to continue in this world, to survive, sometimes you need to break things down and rebuild from the ground up. His works speaks on both a personal and public level to the fragility

of the current Graffiti scene, which is slowly fading away and being replaced by Corporate Sponsors with their own agenda.

The Seventh Letter Crew is based out of Los Angeles and is recognized as an Institution of Street Culture. The Seventh Letter Crew is known for their World Famous visuals and Iconic street references. The Seventh Letter is regarded as an Artistic Movement of Graffiti Culture and is comprised of an army of Artists who all owe their roots to graffiti. The work of the Seventh Letter has been highlighted in Fine Art pieces shown in Galleries across the Globe, in countless tattoos, in commercial Graphic Design work, and has contributed to the Music Industry. The Seventh Letter demonstrates a consistent pride in their craft and offers foresight for future generations of young and upcoming Artists.

The Opening Reception will take place on December 1st 2018 at Arcade Art Gallery’s Showroom located at 148 Liuhe 1st Rd. Kaohsiung, Taiwan.

Arcade Art Gallery is proud to present ‘WHITE NOISE’; an Exhibition by the Guest
Curator Yi-Shuan Lee. ‘WHITE NOISE’ features the works by Columbian-Canadian
artist Jorge Marin & by Canadian artist Louie Mangialardi.

The exhibition will present new works from both artists for the first time in Taiwan.

White noise is perceived when each audible frequency is equally loud, when
nothing, no shape or form, can be distinguished in the sound. In fact, engineers
also refer to noise of other colors, such as pink noise in which the volume
decreases with frequency. So noise of different colors has different forms, but as
with color, white implies that we perceive no feature, we notice nothing.
Perception is a complex thing and never as simple as the definition of white noise
implies. Listen to white noise for a while and patterns will emerge. Look at a blank
white wall long enough and forms will appear.

Somehow we seek and find form even where there is none. This is one of the
challenges that we face in terms of the relationship between what we perceive
and what there is. In challenging and changing our relationship with the world we
live in, be that at the level of perception or cognition, art has to address white
noise.

It is the starting point. It is the state that shows up issues of perception in the
extreme, in the clearest way. Clarity follows from starting with the unembellished
concrete truth and building upon it using a careful economy of means. It most
strongly supports the development of our understanding of our relationship with
the world and, hence, our understanding of ourselves. From neutral white noise
the language development, that both represents and enables our perceptions to
evolve, can spring. This is a core concern of art.

The Exhibition will take place at Arcade Art Gallery’s Showroom located at 148 Liuhe 1st Rd. Kaohsiung, Taiwan.

Arcade Art Gallery is proud to present ‘ ZOOK! : A Solo Exhibition’

About the Exhibition :

‘ ZOOK! : A Solo Exhibition’ showcases a bold selection of his most recent works.
A player in the local Taiwanese street scene, ZOOK!’s imagery finds a balance between Traditional Chinese motifs, the Modern Cartoons of his Youth, and day to day life in the gritty Industrial Hub of the Island.

About ZOOK! :

Taiwanese Artist, ZOOK!’s visual language is heavily influenced by his immediate surroundings. He draws on Traditional Taiwanese imagery and seamlessly blends it with modern street culture. Like so many in the the Graffiti world, ZOOK! found his first canvasses in the streets, developing his skill in back alleys, and on abandoned buildings.

Today ZOOK! has made a place for himself in the rapidly growing local scene. His characters are easily recognizable with their large, rounded faces; reminiscent of the Buddha, but they have been twisted to depict the gritty face of Taiwanese gangsterism.

The Exhibition will take place at Arcade Art Gallery’s Showroom located at 148 Liuhe 1st Rd. Kaohsiung, Taiwan.

An Opening Reception will be held on March 16th, 2018 at 6pm.

The Exhibition will run until April 5th, 2018.
