Arcade Art Gallery is pleased to present an exclusive Print Release by established and renowned American Lowbrow and Pop Surrealism artist,

Anthony Ausgang. This print edition was entirely produced in Taiwan, and is a unique collaboration between Arcade Art Gallery and local print masters, Tsubaki Print Studio.

Anthony Ausgang is an original pioneer of the American Lowbrow and Pop Surrealism art movements. Although based in California, he is an established International artist with many successful gallery and museum shows in Japan, Europe and Australia. He also creates concert posters and album artwork for bands and musicians such as, Sonic Boom, MGMT, Green Day, Luna, Neil Young, and the Boredoms.

Arcade Art Gallery and Anthony Ausgang have teamed together to produce, for the first time outside of the United States, an exclusive Collectors' Item print that brings together his famous Low Brow cartoon cat characters and California Hot Rod Culture.

Taiwan is an industrial country, manufacturing and shipping electronic goods across the world. However, there is more happening in the country than just cell phones and computers. Taiwan has a rich cultural scene and Arcade Art Gallery is proud to  promote this aspect of the country, and to introduce International Contemporary artists to Taiwan.

With the support of our talented Taiwanese partners, Tsubaki Print Studio, we have produced a beautiful two-colour, hand-pulled, silk screen print on cotton rag paper. The print is a large format, masterfully executed work of art, and its incandescent hand-pulled color echoes Ausgang’s canvas masterpieces, which often have a trademark luminescent finish.

This a closed Edition of 99, with 5 Artist Proofs. All works are signed and numbered by the Artist. The print is exclusively available through our online shop.

About Anthony Ausgang :

Ausgang was born in Point-A-Pierre, Trinidad in 1959 and was raised in Houston, Texas. He was schooled at the Otis Art Institute in Los Angeles and in 1990 Ausgang had his first solo show at the 01 Gallery in Hollywood where he used the vocabulary of comics to explore a variety of adult themes. By 1993 Ausgang’s artistic production consisted of customized cars, original acrylic paintings and commercial merchandise. In 1993 Ausgang’s custom painted doors from a 1936 Plymouth coupe were included in the seminal hot rod art exhibition “Kustom Kulture” at The Laguna Beach Art Museum. Ausgang also purchased paintings in thrift stores and put his own characters in the found scenes, hitting the landscapes with the vigor and fearlessness of a graffiti writer or skateboarder’s reappropriation of urban architecture. In 2009 Ausgang’s work was included in the exhibition Apocalypse Wow! at theMACRO museum in Rome Italy. In addition to exhibiting his paintings in galleries and museums, Ausgang has designed artwork for the bands and musicians David Lee Roth, the Boredoms, Perry Farrell, Sonic Boom, Martin Rev and Buckshot LeFonque; in 2010 Ausgang did the cover art for theMGMT release Congratulations, which was nominated by NME for the Best Art Vinyl of 2010. In 2011 Ausgang designed the Christmas windows for the La Rinascente Department Store in Milan. Volcom Apparel & Accessories featured Ausgang’s work in a line of surfwear. In 2014, Ausgang’s work was included in the Lowbrow Insurgence exhibition at the Harwood Museum in Taos, New Mexico, and in 2015 Ausgang curated the Kustom Kulture Milano exhibition in Milan, Italy.
